My Story
I’ve spent my life collaborating with others to achieve goals and gain clarity in the sport and recreation worlds – having great fun and adventures along the way. I have worked as a counselor, coach, guide, first-responder and instructor with youth, adolescents, families, elite athletes and corporate groups alike. It’s been an amazing journey that’s allowed me to deeply connect with others while getting after it.
As a youngster, I had a growth mindset – a desire to learn and continuously improve in physical and social environments. I developed competencies in a variety of sports, ranging from tennis to sailing to big mountain skiing. I played lacrosse in high school and college, loving the fast, physical and finesse aspects of the team sport.
While at the University of Oregon, I was a four year starter and a member of four (4) PNCLL conference titles. I received All-American honors at midfield and attack each of my four seasons, two conference MVP awards, and played an integral role in the team’s advancement to the MCLA National Championship title game my senior year, tallying 61 goals and 25 assists on the season.
Many of the positions I’ve held have involved leading and teaching individuals and groups in rugged environments. Leading groups of executives and families on multi-day whitewater river trips, administering first-aid and transportation through advanced ski terrain, coaching in competitive games, or engaging in diverse cultures.
Through such experiences, those as a teammate, and more, I always found myself wanting to understand why; why some people soak up the experience, remain positive and lean in with an intent focus, while others are unenthusiastic, non-committal or scared. More than just wanting to understand why, I’ve always had a passion for helping those around me get involved, strive for personal excellence, and find enjoyment in the present moment.
Since 2012, I’ve taken an academic approach to understanding the psychology of people, most notably people who are stretching their potential and continuing to achieve. I’ve taken so much of what I value: deep relationships, living in the moment, journey into self, philosophy, competition, adventure, devotion, etc., and I’ve built an evidence-based practice aimed at helping others achieve high performance and happiness.
I’m blessed and proud to say I have family, friends and colleagues who span the globe, that are challenging their existence, leaning in with a growth mindset, achieving great success in a wide variety of professional fields, and acting as my role-models and advisory committee. As a result, I ensure my clients get the highest quality of service irrespective of their needs!
